SPARTANBURG, SC – Senior Callum McGuigan shot rounds of 69 and 74 on Monday (April 9) to propel Francis Marion University to a seventh-place standing after the first day of Wofford College Invitational Men's Golf Tournament.
The tournament will conclude with a third round on Tuesday at 9 a.m. on the 6,648-yard, par 72 Country Club of Spartanburg course.
Francis Marion registered an opening-round 282 and then shot a 297 score during the afternoon round, and at 579 is seven strokes out of the Top 5.
The host Terriers lead the team standings with a 286-276=562 (-14) scorecard, three strokes ahead of second-place Army (282-283=565). East Tennessee State University is third (567) with Austin Peay State (570) and Appalachian State University (572) rounding out the Top 5.
McGuigan is tied for 14th in the players' standings with his 143 tally. Senior Marc Casullo is tied for 19th at 72-72=144 (E), while freshman Jacob Morris (69-76=145) is tied for 25th, senior Alessandro Caselli (72-75=147) is tied for 30th, and junior Lars Sandvoll (76-79=155) is tied for 51st. Casullo birdied four of his first eight holes on Monday morning and briefly led the event.
Army's Dean Sakata leads the players' standings by a six strokes after carding a pair of 6-under 66 rounds on Monday.
