After seeing its opening tournament canceled by Hurricane Dorian, the Francis Marion University golf team will open its 2019-20 campaign on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 23-24) as the Patriots take part in the 15-team River Run Collegiate Tournament hosted by Davidson College.

FMU swept past the University of Mount Olive 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 in the opening contest on Saturday, and dropped a five-set marathon 19-25, 25-13, 25-21, 17-25, 15-8 decision to the University of West Alabama during the evening.
Senior libero Natalie Vaughn reached a career milestone by posting her 1000th dig as Francis Marion University split a pair of matches Friday (Sept. 13) on the opening day of the annual FMU Invitational Volleyball Tournament. The Patriots defeated Converse College 26-24, 25-21, 25-21 early in the day and then dropped a tough four-set decision (25-20, 16-25, 25-18, 25-14) to Eckerd College in the evening.
Francis Marion University junior Dayle McEwen scored on a rebound header with 7:33 remaining, but unbeaten Catawba College held off the Patriots from that point on to claim a 2-1 non-conference victory, Wednesday evening (Sept. 11) in women’s soccer action.
